If you have read my post about getting our car, then you know I did not love biking around, especially when it meant having to pull my son in a bike trailer on the back. While I don't love to bike around as my main form of transport, I do love the occasional leisurely pedal through Hirschgarten. To be able to take a ride every now and then, without the hassle of owning a bike has been wonderful.
The company I recommend for this is called Swapfiets. They offer a bike rental service in Munich with rental periods starting from as short as 1 month.
They offer different options of bikes and e-bikes for use via a monthly membership fee. Depending on the option you select, it comes with most of the accessories you need but you can add extras like baskets. Have a look here at the bike options.
Pros
All their bike options are great. I have used the e-bike and my husband has used the city or original bike. Both are fantastic. When we were living in hill country, the e-bike ended up being the easiest way I could get around. Here in the city, it's given my husband the option of riding to work when he wants without the hassle of owning and maintaining his own bike.
The fee is fixed every month. You can choose from a monthly subscription, a 6-month subscription, or a 12-month subscription. The longer your subscription, the cheaper your monthly fee will be.
The delivery is fast.
Any service or repairs can usually be scheduled within 48 hours.
The website and app both have the option to select English as your language.
The in-store service we have experienced has been very professional and efficient every time, for collections, repairs, and returns.
Cons
I honestly don't have any, just be aware of your notice period when canceling or changing your subscription.
